+ How do Boltra Subscriptions work?

When you purchase a subscription you will need to supply a credit or debit card to complete your first payment. Once you have subscribed you will be set up for automatic monthly billing from your first subscription date. One month is the minimum rental period for Freedom Pass subscribers but there is no limit to how long you can keep renting for. Freedom Pass subscribers can return their bike at any stage during their current billing cycle and they will not be charged for an additional month. If your bike has not been scheduled for return before the end of your monthly billing cycle then you will be automatically billed for the next month.

+ Are Boltra Subscriptions available outside of Auckland?

Unfortunately Boltra Subscriptions are only currently available in Auckland Central. Keep an eye on our website and social media for new locations.

+ How does the maintenance work?

We aim to keep you riding 24/7 and will take care of any maintenance requirements that your e-bike needs while you are subscribed.
If you have any issues with the battery, engine, brakes, tires, gears or anything else then you can schedule a bike maintenance or service at a time that suits you. If we need to we will replace your bike so that you can continue your subscription without any down time. If there is damage to the bike beyond general wear and tear that has been caused by the rider then you may be subject to additional fees to cover the cost of repairs.

+ How does the insurance work?

Your Boltra Subscription includes theft insurance so that you can rest easy knowing that in the unlikely event that your bike is stolen that you have some cover. If you have your own personal home and contents insurance then we recommend you contact your insurance provider to get the bike covered under your own policy during your rental period. When your bike is delivered you will be supplied with a high security bike lock and shown the best way to securely lock your bike to avoid thieves. If you ensure that you always lock your bike in a secure location as demonstrated using the provided lock then you will be covered in the event of theft, intentional damage or vandalism.

+ Can I test ride a bike before subscribing?

Sure thing! We’re happy for anyone considering signing up for a Boltra Subscription to arrange a time to visit the workshop and take the bikes for a spin. We’re confident that once you have a ride on one of these bikes you will be hooked.

+ I've never ridden a bike before, are e-bikes safe to learn on?

Boltra subscriptions are not suited for people that have never used a bike before. We recommend checking out the council classes for new cyclists before jumping on an e-bike for the first time.
